From using non-toxic, sustainable products in daily operations to low-waste events, our past efforts laid the groundwork for deeper climate action. Now, we’re sharpening our focus on reducing emissions. We’re taking practical steps to lower emissions in the areas where we can make the biggest difference – travel, energy, commuting, events, and what we buy. Our approach is strategic, rooted in science and data, and guided by our values

Office Energy Use

We are choosing energy-efficient office spaces and working with landlords to improve building performance and increase renewable energy.

Commuting & Remote Work

By offering flexible remote work options and encouraging low-emissions commuting, we reduce the carbon footprint of our daily operations.

Business Travel

We’re rethinking how and why we travel – prioritizing lower-emissions modes of transportation, choosing venues with sustainability commitments, and supporting virtual participation when possible.

Events & Gatherings

We design meetings and retreats to minimize travel, reduce waste, and source food and materials sustainably.

Purchasing

We plan to implement sustainable procurement practices, focusing on services and products that reduce emissions and are environmentally responsible.

Mailings

We’re looking closely at how we manage our mailings to reduce the environmental impact while still connecting with our donors.

There is still plenty of work to do, and we’re excited to keep pushing forward.

Sustainability is an evolving journey that touches every part of our work.

We’re committed to engaging staff, improving practices, and scaling solutions that align with our mission and reduce our climate impact.

Our practices are shaped by our values, informed by science, and led by a commitment to justice.
